Holland America Cruise Line: A Signature of Excellence
I dare you. Name a cruise line other than Holland America Cruise Line that travels to:
- Alaska
- Africa
- America's Pacific Northwest
- Asia and The Pacific
- Australia and New Zealand (The South Pacific)
- Canada and New England
- The Caribbean
- Europe
- Hawaii
- Mexico
- The Panama Canal
- South America
Did you come up with one? Okay, now I dare you to name one that does it with such understated elegance.
There's a quote in a Holland America Cruise Line brochure
It goes like this:
"There is a certain kind of elegance that never goes out of style. It's found in the gleaming curve of a teak deck chair, sumptuous appointments and telling details. On board the ships of Holland America Line you'll discover an experience that is modern, fresh and appealing--in an ambiance that is timeless and refined."
That's practically poetry! Perhaps "poetic" is the best way to describe the Holland America Cruise Line experience.
After all, this is the cruise line that was chosen #1 in 2006's Portrait of Affluent Travelers Survey, that is consistently rated among the top cruise lines in the Conde Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards, the Travel + Leisure World's Best Awards, and a regular winner of the Star Diamond Award from the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences.
But here's the really amazing thing...
A Trip on Holland America Cruise Line can still be affordable!
I'm looking at a 7 day Caribbean cruise setting sail in October of 2007. 2 people can share an inside stateroom for less than a hundred dollars per person per night.
Remember, that's all-inclusive. Why, you could fly to the Caribbean and expect to pay that much per night just for your hotel! That's why when I think Holland America Cruise Line, I don't just think "elegance," I think "affordable elegance."
Of course, if you want more spacious elegance, what Holland America calls "the suite life," it can be had for a few more bucks. Heck, they have an outside stateroom, the "Penthouse Verandah," consisting of 1159 square feet. Now that's cruising!
More elegance
I think you'll agree, cruise lines are all about the food. "All-inclusive," to a lot of people, means, "All you can eat!" (Hence my favorite cruise "line": "Walk on. Waddle off."
But one neat feature on Holland America Cruise Line is their Culinary Arts Program. It's not just about the eating, it's about the cooking. Presented by Food & Wine magazine, it features:
- a state of the art demonstration kitchen
- cooking classes, where Master Chefs will show you how to re-create the tastes of your favorite ports of call
- wine-tasting and food pairing seminars
- famous guest chefs, wine experts and cookbook authors
This feature (as of this writing, 04/2007) is available on all Holland America cruises. And it's just one example of what Holland America has to offer.
I could go on and on
But I won't. Suffice it to say, Holland America Cruise Line has a lot to offer. Will you take them up on it?
